We all know that school can be very challenging, especially when you enter senior classes, however these 6 tips may put you at ease.

Tip #1: Review Daily!

If you are in the habit of reading through your notes on a daily basis, you will find that there is less stress for when a test comes around. You have the knowledge in your head from every lesson, and when you begin to study for your test, you will be revisiting things you already know as opposed to reading information for the first time.

Tip #2: Use Flashcards to memorize terms/formulas or main ideas

If you are a person who slightly struggles with memory, use flashcards as a way to memorize glossary terms. This is a great learning tool because you are engaging in repetitive learning and they are small, so you can bring them anywhere and study them.

Tip #3: Use Mind Maps to connect main ideas

Mind Maps are great for subjects like: English, History and any Social Sciences. They can show you how ideas are all connected. Simply condense information on one page, so you know the general idea very well. The way to make a mind map is have a main topic written in the centre of the page, then draw arrows leading to ideas within that topic.

Tip#4: Test yourself

Create your own practice tests using questions from the textbook or generate your own questions from your notes. This will test to see if you really understand the content of the subject.

Tip#5: Practice

They say that the best way to learn is to teach. Participate in a study group with your friends where everyone is responsible for a certain topic. This is an active way of learning. Or you can even teach the material to someone who knows nothing about it.

Tip #6: SLEEP ENOUGH!

We’ve all pulled an all night study session before, but a sleeping range from 8-10 hours is important for adolescents. If you are lacking enough sleep, you will not have the best attention span, causing you to fall behind in class, and it could also affect your health. Your immune system relies on your sleep to remain in a healthy state. The immune system defends the body from any foreign substance or illness that can be taken in. If you are frequently having an insufficient amount of sleep, you may be blocked from common infections.
