How To Stop Procrastination

Progress report cards are coming this Thursday and that means midterms follow shortly afterwards. But it’s hard to achieve the grades we want if we keep getting distracted and pushing back our work for later. These are three main tips that will help everyone stop procrastinating and get them back to work.

1) Go to an environment without distractions In a world full of technology, it’s really hard to stay in focus when our attention is easily grabbed by even the smallest thing. It’s crucial to surround yourself in an environment where there is minimal disruptions. Shutting off your phone for a couple of hours or putting your notifications on mute can help greatly. Another thing is to go to a place where it is quiet. You can go to a library or a small coffee house. This helps because if you stay at home, siblings might bother you, you may be tempted to take many breaks and naps or you may be distracted by social media.

2) Divide work into smaller parts We often become so overwhelmed by how much work we have to do, especially when going into older grades. This discourages us to do anything. Breaking everything in small parts can help because you won’t feel stressed out. You can do this by prioritizing. Make a to-do list or a schedule by first putting things that need to be done first because they are due while putting things that are not as important near the end of the list. With this, your work won’t be as packed and you can manage your time better.

3) Be inspired A lot of us don’t like doing work and it doesn’t help when stress adds to the pile. We often become so unmotivated to do any work that we leave things unfinished. We need to become more passionate and try our best to finish what we started. Inspiration can drive us to do better. You can get inspired by setting your goals and reminding yourself when you feel discouraged that this is what you need to achieve. You can also partner up with someone who wants to accomplish the same things as you and stop procrastinating. This helps inspire each other and not get distracted because it is something you both want. Most importantly, it

reminds you that you’re not alone.
