Social Justice Collects Gently Used Winter Items

The Coats for Kids initiative will accept donations until Tuesday, October 29th.

The Social Justice Club is nearing the end of its second annual Coats for Kids initiative that has taken place for most of the past month.

Every year, many families and individuals in Windsor and Essex County are found without winter wear as the temperature drops. St. Joe’s Social Justice Club is using a donation system to help those in need this winter.

Mrs. Walls, St. Joe’s Campus Minister, researched the cause and discovered that a winter clothes drive was a great way for students to help their community. Her idea has since been made a reality, as students can bring gently used coats, hats, mittens and scarves to a donation bin at the school. Items collected will be sent to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Windsor, where they will be given to those who need them most.

Coats for Kids is a program about which the Social Justice Club is very passionate. The members of the club are working hard to contribute as much as possible to this great cause. “Helping kids is the main goal of the Social Justice Club, and our hope is that no child spends this winter cold,” said club head Kadence D.

Any and all donations are being accepted until this Tuesday, October 29th. Items can be placed in the donation bin found in Mrs. Walls’ office, in the LCC.
