As a part of St. Joseph's Catholic High School Canada 150 celebration on Thursday during the third period, St. Joes' students buried the time capsule at the front of their school. Mrs. Isabella lead the ceremony and it consisted of Christina, one of the grade 10 Lasers signing Canada's national anthem, 3 French immersion students that read our school prayer in French, Father Rocheleau saying a blessing, and Ms. Bon-Pickering and Ms. Piccini reading a letter written by Mr. Fuerth that would be read by future Lasers in 2042.

Afterwards, Mr. Byrne presented all the items going into the capsule, these included Issues of the Globe and Mail and the Windsor Star, a school demographics sheet, one of the school's uniform shirts, the IPod 4 that was used to film the ceremony and its power cord, a collage of the whole student body in the image of the Canadian Flag, the school's prayer, a student survey, letters from Mr. Labute and Mr. Fuerth, a screenshot of the school's student portal, a Canada 150 celebration flag and many more items that will serve as a window into the past for our future Lasers.

Once the items had been presented, two of the school’s Construction students finished planting the tree that will serve as the marker for the time capsule. A plaque engraved with information about the capsule was placed in front of the tree.

"The presentation of the time capsule was amazing, all the students and teachers coming together to mark St. Joe’s history was simply heartwarming, I'm so proud to say that I was a part of the celebration as a member of SAC, as well as a fellow Laser" says Sukie Chaggar, a Grade 11 student, in a statement about the Time Capsule presentation

The Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of the school's Student Council lowered the box into the vault, and the Construction students buried the capsule. While it was being lowered in true Laser fashion, the whole audience participated in the Laser chant, unifying the school as one during this historically influential and momentous occasion that will be spoken of for years to come.
