The Grade 12 French Immersion Religion teacher, Madame Tomaselli, prepared this wonderful event with her students weeks in advance. The students put a lot of thought and effort into making the day enjoyable for everyone. They were divided into groups and given specific tasks. Video advertisements and posters were displayed and published at St. Joseph’s to encourage other students of the school to buy a ticket.

There were three types of crepes sold that day, including: Croque Monsieur (ham, cheese and egg), Banane Nutella, Brownie Explosion, and Apple Caramel. Brownie explosion an Banane Nutella were popular picks.

The brownie explosion was a fan favourite.

The crepe sale began at 11:30am with the teacher time slot, and they ate their crepes while listening to live performances. The sale went on in intervals of 15 minutes due to the small size of the library. A number of students and teachers performed at the crepe sale, along with teacher Mr. Barron, and the school principal, Mr. Labute. Bailey Chittle, a Grade 12 student from the Religion class, amazed the crowd with his saxophone cover of George Michael’, ‘Careless Whisper.

A photo booth was set up there with a macaroon backdrop. Students were able to use props and costumes to get their pictures taken by Grade 12 student, Sabrina Sisco.

The servers for the day were located at the entrance of the library and collected the student’s tickets.

The goal of the Crepe Sale was to raise money to donate to the Maryvale Centre downtown and for workshops in the school. The focus was on the subject of mind, body and spirit, so the class decided to donate to an organization that helps teens dealing with mental health concerns. It will also go towards upcoming spiritual workshops that the class will be hosting at St. Joseph’s in the near future.
