Amy Rocheleau: Not Your Standard Drama Queen

Introducing Amy Rocheleau, a Grade 9 student and an aspiring performer. She used to attend St. John Vianney Catholic Elementary School and is excited to be at St Joseph's this year. She says that she hasn’t had too much trouble with the obvious changes that come with high school. Amy doesn’t seem to have a hard time finding classes, and has really enjoyed meeting so many new people. It looks like high school is working out well for her. Amy was born in Windsor and moved to Belle River when she was just a year old, and lived there until she was about eight years old, and then she moved back to her hometown of Windsor.

To name a couple of successes throughout her school career, Amy made honour roll in her class in Grade 8 and also won a science award, of which she is very proud! As well, she also led her school’s senior volleyball team to victory last year, winning the finals, and keeping their 9-0 streak alive! These achievements showcase her determination in both sports and academics.

For achievements and awards to happen, goals need to be set. For Amy, these include social, academic, and personal ones. She hopes to make a lot of new friends this year, with all the new schools coming together, and also to achieve strong marks in her studies. Most importantly though, are her personal accomplishments. This year, Amy wants to take opportunities to step out of her comfort zone, and gain more confidence.

One passion of Amy’s is drama, and the performing arts. Of course, she had to join Drama Club, so expect to see her in upcoming school productions. When asked why she loved performing, her answer was very heartwarming. “[Drama] gives me a chance to make friends, gain confidence, and show the audience how fun acting and playing a character can be. Drama is something I feel comfortable and confident doing.” That is definitely a great reason to do something-- having a deep love for it.

Although the theatre is a hobby of hers, in the future, Amy wants to help children through hard times, by being a children's lawyer. Her own experience with this job is what made her want to pursue this path. “I had one when my parents’ divorce was happening, and it helped me a lot. I want to help kids that have family issues like I do, and make their situation a lot easier.” Amy loves fighting for people who have been hurt, and that truly demonstrates her kind heart and consideration for others.
