On Thursday, November 16, the grade 12 French immersion class of St. Joseph’s High School attended a religious retreat as part of their Grade 12 religion course at the Holy Family Retreat House in Oxley, Ontario.

The class spent their day with French immersion teachers Mme. Lage and Mme. Tomaselli, along with the school’s campus minister, Mrs. Walls. They were encouraged to spend time in nature talking to God and reconnecting with themselves. The day began with some group sharing activities followed by a scavenger hunt and a final game of Pictionary. This was a great day for students to connect with each other in their final year of high school.

The French immersion students showed great appreciation for the day that was planned for them. Their Religion teacher, Mme. Tomaselli, has encouraged them from the beginning of the year to be able to focus and work on self-growth. She has encouraged her class to get in the habit of writing a journal entry each morning and regularly practice meditation. The class was able to put them both into practice on the trip.

The retreat was in fact a memorable day for the Grade 12 French immersion class, and a great day for self-reflection. Mme. Tomaselli enjoyed her last field trip with her ‘spiritual gangsters’.
