St. Joes' Boast Talented Performances at Christmas Showcase

On November 23rd and 24th, St. Joseph's Catholic High School hosted their annual Christmas Art Showcase where students from all grade levels got an opportunity to show off their talent in singing and dancing in the theme of the holiday season.

Before the show started, the tech team treated the audience to Christmas carols to boost their excitement. The M.C’s, Jasper and Olivia, sauntered onto the stage, and welcomed the audience with a series of puns that were very well received.

They announced the first act for the afternoon on Thursday. The dynamic duo, Kaeleigh and Sofia, took the stage as the crowd erupted with glee.

Next up on the stage was senior student Shakira Ibrahim. The crowd was silent, pondering at the view of no one entering the stage, but soon, the crowd of students roared at the sight of the adored Shakira taking center stage. Andrew Seguin was ready to get the spotlight at the conclusion of Shakira's performance. Andrew then played the hit song “Attention” by Charlie Puth.

The M.C’s then appeared to present the next talented St. Joseph's student, Joshua Bowden singing “Piano Man” and Melody Turner, who performed “White Horse” by Taylor Swift. Halfway through the show, the crowd remained uproarious, wanting to see more performers. Taking their places on the stage and ready to perform their dance, were Shakira, Erika C., Erika A., Jessica and Nathalie. A remix of Rihanna's hit song Rude Boy began to play through the speakers and the crowd went wild for their dance.

Up and center stage, Christina Apollonio sang a rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

Our very own principal, Mr. Labute, performed Ed Sheeran's Perfect on the piano. “Beautiful” was the way students had described his performance. As the song continued, students joined in to the singing, creating a memorable moment for the whole student body.

The last performance was a fantastic way to bring the show to an end. Zach Carriere sung Frank Sinatra's J.I.N.G.L.E Bells. The students loved the joyful spirit he brought to the stage. As advice to anyone who would like to follow his footsteps, Zach encourages everyone that "confidence is key if you want to be the best." Students began to chime in and sing along to the tune with Zach. Backstage, the performers were proud and filled with joy knowing that students and teachers enjoyed their performances.

Teachers and students joined together once again on Friday for the second part of the talent show during first period. This time, there were some different performances, with just as much talent as the last.

Melak and Angela took the stage with their phenomenal dance to As if it’s Your Last by K-Pop group BLACKPINK.

Katie Savage sang “The Climb” beautifully, inviting the whole audience to sing with her.

The Christmas talent show was a great success, and will be remembered for years to come!
