The first week back at school proved to be full of tough but well played games for the St. Joseph girls' volleyball teams. Both the Junior and Senior teams showed great grit and teamwork this past week and despite the outcomes of the games, showed their Laser spirit.

On Tuesday, the Lasers faced off against the Villanova Wildcats. Despite the Senior girls working hard and demonstrating their great hits and tricky plays, they were unable to beat the Wildcats in the first two sets. However, they turned up the heat and won the last set with a score of 25-18. The final score was a 1-2 loss for the Lasers.

The Junior girls also fell prey to the Wildcats with a final score of 1-2. The girls played a close game winning the first set, losing the second, and narrowly losing the third by two intense points.

During the second away game of the week, the Lasers travelled to Kingsville to battle the Cavaliers. The Seniors played well, with great serves and hard hits that threw the Kingsville’s players off guard. However, the Senior Lasers were unable to pull ahead and lost the game with a final score of 1-2.

The Junior girls managed to end the week on a high note. In their game against Kingsville, they gave it their all and had three great sets. This resulted in an amazing final score of 3-0, securing a win for the Lasers.

Overall, the first week back from the holidays was tough for the Lasers, but they battled through it and played many exciting games.

Be sure to watch the upcoming home games this Tuesday and Thursday!
