Emilee Beaumont is a Grade 9 student who loves to read, shop, and succeed. Emilee previously attended a French school for her first year of kindergarten after which she moved to St. Alexander’s Elementary school. This move was so that she could be with her sister, who was a student there. Emilee has just finished her first semester, and says that she enjoyed it very much. She said that the exams were a lot easier than she thought they would be, and that she owes it to her studying and preparation for helping her to get through them.
Now that exams are over, that means semester two has started, which could be a whole new experience for a student in Grade 9. It’s only been about a week, but Emilee can happily say that she is doing well, and is finding it pretty easy to change around her routine. “It may take some time to meet new people, but overall I think my new classes are very good. As well, it may be odd to have a total change of schedule and classes, however, Emilee actually enjoys that shift. “I like how you can do more in the school year, rather than only doing 4 classes.”
Out of the successes and achievements that Emilee has earned in her life so far, the one that she is the most proud of is winning the literacy award at her grade school graduation last year. She felt very excited receiving this award, as many people were up for it, and were great contenders too. She was surprised, but glad when she won, as she had worked hard that year to earn an award.
A large part of Emilee’s life is reading. She absolutely loves any book that is out there, from adventure stories to poetry. Her collection is rather large. When asked why she adores flipping through the pages of a novel, Emilee said that they take her to different worlds, and are so immersive and interesting. She also noted that each story she reads gives her different emotions, introduces her to all kinds of amazing characters, and gives her a time to relax and de-stress from things like school and extracurricular activities. For these reasons, reading and exploring new books has become one of Emilee’s favourite past-times.
Ever since she can remember, Emilee has wanted to become a lawyer. She says that she has always loved fighting for what is right, and for making sure that everyone has a fair shot, and is taken seriously. In going down this career path, she hopes to accomplish justice for people who deserve it, and to stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. Emilee plans on joining the debate team next year, which will be very good practice for a future debate in a courtroom one day.
