Senior Lasers celebrate at the rally.
Last Friday during period four, Lasers gathered in the gym to take part in this year’s final pep rally, and it was an event that no one will forget. Students and staff alike were feeling excited and enthusiastic, as entertaining contests between the grades took place.
The rally started off strong with the new SAC members being introduced to the school. The recently elected grade representatives had their first experiences of running the school and being on student council, as they contributed to the many games and activities, along with the other current council members.
Next, it was time for the grade wars. It was an all-out competition between grades nine to twelve, who were all dressed in their respective colours, and the stakes were high. The challenges included who could have the loudest cheer, an eating contest with whole watermelons, an obstacle course which involved agility and speed, a karaoke contest where contestants sang none other than a "High School Musical" song, an intense limbo competition that went down to the wire, dunking basketballs, and a large scale version of cup pong, using beach balls. Needless to say, there were many chances to gain points, as well as a lot of interesting action to watch and in which to take part.
The karaoke competition was a big hit.
Students were also able to enjoy a fantastic dance performance by members of the dance team, which had everyone applauding loudly.
As the grade wars came to a close, the winners were announced, and the Grade 12’s emerged victorious, topping the scoreboard. In the end, this pep rally was a great way to end the school year, and was a perfect opportunity for the Laser community to come together!
